TAROT KEY MEANINGS

Shadow Seer (Reversed): fears that block you, not being able to discern between reality and illusion, linear thinking, not able to process a spiritual or mystical experience, mental confusion, misinterpretation, anxiety

THE MOON OVERVIEW

A wolf and a dog howl up at the moon. One aloof, wild and cunning. The other friendly, eager to please and affectionate. One is hers, and from this distance, in this light, she finds it hard to discern which is which. When they both turn to her and begin to advance, she isn’t sure which one she needs to move towards because she struggles to see them in the dark. The shadows play tricks and the illusions of light from the reflecting water make it impossible to see the details. Were they both running at her? Or away from her? She panics, imagining the worst and she trips into the water, flailing desperately. Her mind races – her layered dress is suddenly so heavy, and somehow her head is underwater. She struggles, wrapping herself up in the many layers, trying to discern up from down. Air. Motion. Gasp. She needs air. And just when her fear is about to overtake her, a stream of light grazes her hand. The Moon. She pauses. Surrenders. Finds her bearings. The moonlight streams down through the water and she notices how it dances on the bubbles around her. She realizes that the moment she stopped struggling was the moment she began to float to the surface. She drifts in the liminal, and then finally breaks through the surface, breathing in all the magic of the moment. Thanking the moon for its guidance she reaches for shore, where a wagging tail meets her with affection.

MESSAGE FROM THE MOON

When faced with uncertainly and illusion, it can feel like we are drowning in the unknown. Trust that you will be okay, even if you can’t seem to discern up from down right now. When you stop struggling to see that which you simply cannot see in your shadows, you will experience a deep release that will allow you to float to the surface of your truth. The moon card asks you to go within, and to calmly listen to the whis pers of your own intuition. There is divinity here. She asks you to find comfort in the darkness. There is magic here. When you choose to fall into the moon’s still waters, your inner-wisdom will embrace you, and then push you towards the light. Pause to seek. And seek to feel. And feel to float. And float to thrive. Follow your breath all the way up. The moon’s gentle caress offers you the key to your subconscious mind, and asks you to submerge your thoughts in her shadowy messages. She will reinvigorate your creativity and resurrect your spark as long as you reach beyond your own fears in order to find her. Sometimes, this card illustrates that you cannot possibly know everything about your situation at this time. And sometimes the shadow creates thick illusion, even for the most discerning eye. Dive into the moon’s healing embrace, breath past insecurities, and let her dimly lit magic guide you home.

QUESTIONS FOR THE SEER

• How does fear create illusion and distrust in your life?
• How do you respond when you can’t interpret things with 100% certainty? Does it affect your emotions? Your choices? Your perspective?
• Even though the path may be dimly lit, are you willng to move ahead?

NOTES ON ARTWORK (DRESS) I absolutely love how many comments and questions about the dolphin, the spirit, the ghost, the stingray, and the nature of the dress this card has gathered. This dress bound her in her illusion, and the moon is all about discerning what’s real in the shadows. I leave it up to you to see what you see.

@soulfulowltarot I love the black and white wolves there, they remind me of the pillars of the High Priestess. When I first saw this card I got a bad feeling because my brain said that being underwater is drowning. And the chain of thoughts that sprang from that thought... Illusions and everything... love the layers in this card.
@iamallieberry Surrendering to whatever emotions come up whether they are from your shadow or light side.
@tseris_nyx This is a woman who is beset by the moon, her womb. If she trusts in the great waters of life she will find an intuitive rhythm. Go with the tides of the moon for She holds the secrets to our mysteries & inner strength. All is not lost or hidden when we are guided by her light.
@sunnycitrus2 As a diver, I learned that when you’re disoriented watch your bubbles - they always go up. And I see moonlit bubbles marking the path.
@defineshalycee The first thing that stands out is the light from the moon following her all the way under the water and almost touching her hand. To me it says, “let the light guide you even when you can’t get your head above water.”
@cosmic.creeper Immersive. I find myself thinking about the levels of consciousness and how intrinsically connected these are to our emotional self. The experience of exploring our depths and the potential to feel both weightless transitioning & exploration, as well as the potential to feel too submersed, taken by the current and in need of pause.
